About
Ceris Dyfi Jones is an artist based in Dolgellau, North Wales, whose experiments with textile fine art began whilst completing an Art Foundation Diploma in 2022, in which she achieved a Distinction. Through her work, she often plays with contrasting themes such as Comfort vs Discomfort, Dark vs Light and Humour vs Horror which have fascinated her from a young age.
Ceris was diagnosed with ADHD and autism in her early 20s after struggling to refamiliarise herself with a new reality after the Covid19 pandemic. Much of this struggle is reflected in her work, especially in her signature crochet series ‘Heartstrings.’
Prior to art, Ceris received a First Class degree in History with Film Studies (with Hons) from Bangor University in 2020, from which she also received The Bangor University 'Best History Dissertation Award' for her paper titled 'The Construction of ‘Freaks’: Investigating the Presentation of ‘Disabled’ and ‘Abnormal’ Bodies in 1930s Horror Films'. This passion for both classic and modern films, especially those with darker undertones and aesthetics, very much inspire her artistic practice today as she continues to explore her own neurodivergence and identity through an increasingly gothic lens.
